A-KS: Passed my PMP on Jan 27

I passed my PMP a couple of days back. This forum has given me a lot of help. So thought of sharing.

My prep has been off and on for couple of years. Somehow in Oct/Nov 2010; I decided it was now or never. I put in application in the new format and once it was approved, I simply scheduled teh exam within 40 days.
Here is my prep:

References: Rita M and Head First

I had read the framework, scope, time and cost many times before.
I read the rest of KA and familiarized with ITTO and read Rita in parallel.
Procurement was a problem area because of the various types of contracts,I was familiar with PMBOK material.

I studied 6-8 hours a day a week before exam as I had scored less in Oliver
Lehmans 70 Questions and Kim heldmans sample Q (67%).

Tests: PMStudy (76%) , HeadFirst (80%) and Oliver Lehman’s 175 Q(78%)
Maybe spent 60-80 hrs in total.

I finished the exam in 2 hours and started changing answers so I decided to submit 30 mins later. I passed with Moderate proficiency in all areas.

Here are my recommendations:
READ PMBOK 5-6 Times ; I mean you must be familiar with words and context. Most
of the questions I missed in mock exams was from PMBOK.
READ The Glossary for definitions – some key words are useful.
Read initiating and Closing from PMBOK 4th and Rita M.

There were no BAD and tough questions. However it was tricky than the mock exams
I had taken; PMSTudy came closest to actual exam.

All the best!
